And I gotta respect that she fucks with ONI right back. Rion feels like one of the best-developed, most-relatable characters in all of Halo. I loved that she was moved by seeing the distraught solo Mgalekgolo in the wreckage of the Radiant Perception. I love that she'd do anything for her crew. I love how she comes to befriend and care about Spark. I love her found family on the Ace of Spades. I love Rion because she's independent, compassionate, intelligent, and pragmatic. She doesn't apologize for being good at shit, but also isn't arrogant. But I like her for her balance of brains and compassion. She was barely out of childhood in Hunters in the Dark and still conducted herself like a mature, measured, level-headed person. I love how intelligent she is, I love that she always wants to listen, observe, learn.

(But on the plus side it means I have a perfect excuse to binge watch whatever series I'm on at the time! Forced rest days lmao.) So I'm one of those weirdo ladies who actually likes my cycle because it helps me optimize my workouts, haha! Even if the endometriosis then leaves me bed-bound for a couple days.

Time to push myself versus time to focus on recovery. Time to lift heavy, to exhaustion? Or time to just do a run. I also lift weights, and because women's hormones fluctuate throughout the month and result in different advantages, I tailor my routines around what phase I'm in. :) In my own quest to hate my body a little less and understand more (I have a condition called endometriosis, which results in excruciatingly painful periods), I ended up reading history/anthropology books about women in other cultures and how they treated menstruation, as well as books/articles to understand exactly what biologically is happening/why we've evolved to have this ridiculous "grow shiny new uterine lining once a month!" aspect of our species. Sorry, I didn't mean that to come across as a lecture! I actually find it fascinating how many different attitudes there are, and the diversity even between individual girls/women within cultures.
